Memorial Day is a powerful reminder of the bravery and resilience that our veterans displayed throughout their lives. Observed annually on November 11th, this holiday honors the enduring impact their sacrifices have had on our nation and on all who have served.
The best way to remember a veteran is by telling their story, whether it’s through photos, home videos, or a simple video tribute. You can even use music to set the mood and help your audience feel connected to your loved one. Memorial videos don’t need to be solemn and can include funny moments, dances, or joyful memories. Choose background music that fits your loved one’s personality and evokes the right emotions.
You can also showcase hobbies, passions, or interests in your memorial video. For example, if your loved one was a musician, singer, or car enthusiast, you can include photos of them performing or footage of their favorite cars. You can also include short clips of family members or friends sharing their favorite memories or words of wisdom, which will add a personal touch to your memorial.
The Defense Department launched the Military In Lasting Tribute website in an effort to provide an online destination where survivors can view, share and remember their service heroes. This memorial is the first to also honor those who died in peacetime, according to Deb Skillman, director of Casualty, Mortuary Affairs and Military Funeral Honors for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
