Analysis of the Impact of US Foreign Policy on Global Stability The foreign policy of the United States (US) has had a significant influence on global stability. With a population of more than 330 million and the world’s largest economy, decisions taken by the US often create widespread ripple effects. Several aspects of US foreign policy have a direct impact on international security, global trade, and multilateral diplomacy. One of the main pillars of US foreign policy is strategic alliances. NATO, for example, is an example of collaboration that strengthens collective defense positions in Europe. However, tensions arise when member states disagree on budget contributions, raising questions about solidarity. In addition, the presence of the US military in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in response to the rise of China, creates new tensions. Countries in the region have to navigate their relations between the US and China, often caught in strategic dilemmas. Economic policy also plays an important role in global stability. The introduction of high tariffs by the US on products from other countries often triggers trade wars, which not only harm bilateral relations but can also slow global economic growth. For example, the trade war between the US and China causes market fluctuations and uncertainty in the manufacturing sector, affecting the resilience of global supply chains. In the context of climate change, US foreign policy also has a major impact. The decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement significantly reduces global commitments to address climate change. Developing countries are often the hardest hit, as they rely on international aid to deal with the impacts of climate change. It also raises questions about US leadership in environmental diplomacy, which impacts international collaboration. Additionally, US policy regarding human rights is often two sides of a coin. Although the US promotes democracy and human rights in various countries, favoritism in foreign policy often creates a sense of injustice. Support for certain undemocratic regimes, such as in several Middle Eastern countries, can create dissatisfaction among the citizens of those countries, which has the potential to trigger a wave of rebellion or conflict. US involvement in military conflicts also has broader impacts. Engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq shows how military intervention can change the geopolitical map, but also produce social and humanitarian waste. After years of intervention, the expected results are often not achieved, instead adding to instability in the region. The role of the US in international institutions such as the UN is also worth paying attention to. Through a veto in the Security Council, the US can block decisions it deems inconsistent with its national interests. This dynamic can hamper efforts to resolve international conflicts and affect other countries’ trust in the multilateral system. US strength in technology, cyber warfare and innovation also influences global stability. Skills in this area not only create a competitive advantage, but also raise new challenges regarding cybersecurity. An increase in cyber attacks against other countries’ infrastructure could affect political and economic stability globally. Approaching the future, US foreign policy will continue to adapt to changing global dynamics. Understanding the impact of these policies on global stability is critical, not only for decision makers, but also the international community that relies on stability in developing diplomatic and economic relations.
